The dragon is a symbol of majesty, a widely recognized cultural emblem in China, deeply ingrained in people's hearts. In Kaili, extending into the southwestern minority regions, we encounter charming and lively dragons resembling birds, insects, and fish, each uniquely distinct.
"Dragon in the Heart: Dragon Pattern Co-creation Workshop" is curated by Yubing Guo for the Baopu Residency. This project showcases traditional dragon-patterned attire from various eras, academic research📖, multi-perspective interview videos (featuring dialogues with scholars, practitioners, and visitors from various fields), and interactive workshops.
The workshop does not seek to provide an authoritative interpretation of dragon patterns but rather focuses on collecting diverse perspectives. It highlights the endless vitality of ancient dragon patterns through their use, transmission, and evolution, and their contemporary inspirations. The project aims to explore the diversity, interpretive rights, and usage rights of dragon-themed patterns, showcasing how people from different backgrounds and with varying intentions interact with and relate to dragon patterns and their meanings.
We encourage every visitor to participate, experience traditional minority crafts, and create their own dragon image—letting go of worries, unleashing their imagination, and deconstructing and reconstructing this ancient yet modern cultural symbol.
Here, every participant is not just a passive recipient of information but also a creator of visual art and a reproducer of contemporary culture. Together, we boldly experiment, express individual subjectivity, and build our own cultural and emotional connections.
The relationship between various Chinese ethnic groups and the dragon is complex and profound. The workshop aims to provide an inclusive creative space, appreciating the rich and colorful ethnic and folk art with respect, co-creating, sharing openly, and adding one's unique touch to the millennia-old symbol of the dragon.

龙是威严的象征，是中华大地上流传广泛的文化符号，深入人心；而立足凯里，辐射西南少数民族地区，我们在这里看到的是可爱的、活泼的龙，像鸟的、像虫的、像鱼的龙，不一而足。
“见龙在心：龙纹共创实验坊”项目由本期抱朴驻地策展人国瑜冰策划，以不同年代龙纹的传统服饰展品🪡、学术调研📖、多视角采访影像🎤（与学者、从业者、不同行业访客的对谈）、以及线下互动workshop🎨的形式综合呈现。
实验坊不着眼于提供龙纹的权威解读，而侧重于收集一个多样化的诠释思路，展示古老龙纹在使用、流传、变化的过程中展现出的无限生机，以及如今启发出的当代性。项目旨在以龙纹展品为引子，探索龙主题纹样的多样性、解释权、使用权，展现来自不同背景、抱有不同初心的人们如何与龙纹及其释义进行互动、产生联系。
同时，我们鼓励每一位访客参与其中，体验少数民族传统工艺，动手创造出自己心目中的龙形象⸺放下顾虑和包袱，放飞自由的想象，再一次解构、重构、赋权这一古老而现代的文化符号。
在这里，每位参与者不仅是被动接受信息的观众，更是视觉艺术的创作者、当代文化的再生产者。我们一起大胆实验，发挥个人主体性，搭建属于自己的文化与情感联结。
中华各民族与龙的关系复杂而深远，实验坊希望提供一个包容性的创意空间，心怀尊重地去欣赏丰富多彩的民族、民间艺术， 共同创造，开放分享，为龙纹这一千年传承的意象添上属于自己的精彩一笔。
